    A look ahead...

    at the 2006-2007 basketball season

    5 teams i like are

    1) Ohio State - Big Ten champs this year with the guys they have and bring in their best recruiting class ever (could be one of the best ever...period) with 5 star guys including Greg Oden, Daquean Cook, Mike Conley and David Lighty...their backcourt looks very very good...but for the to be successful, either Terwilliger or Brayden Bell must step up and take that 4 spot and just not make mistakes...they could also go with a 4 guard lineup and move Ivan Harris to the 4 spot and have a Villanova look, but that would be too much to ask for 3 freshmen to shoot the lights out and Oden clean up all their junk...my guess is Bell steps up and they win the Big Ten again

    2) Texas - Daniel Gibson and LaMarcus Aldridge both say they have "unfinished business" so it sounds like they're ognna come back...add in Kevin Durant, D.J. Augustin, Matt Hill and Harrison Smith and this team just got very deep...not to mention P.J. Tucker

    3) Kansas - They were very young this year and have loads of talent who were freshmen this year. Their recruiting isn't particularly flashy but the do bring in Sherron Collins who is a true point guard to create some depth in the backcourt.

    4) UNC - They were also loaded with young talent this year in Hansbrough, Green, Frasor and Ginyard...really their only loss is Noel, but his shoes will be more than filled by Brendan Wright...they also bring in arguably one of the best backcourts in Tywon Lawson and Wayne Ellington

    5) Georgia Tech - they were also young this year but they bring in two of the better players in the nation in Javaris Crittenton and Thaddeus Young (both of whom are in the McDonald's All-American Game) they had growing pains this year, but they look to get back in the national spotlight next year

I agree with Ohio State. I think some will defect from Texas. They may say they have unfinished business, but the only person I know who turned down that kind of money for another opportunity was Leinart, and that may have cost him some dough. Kansas and UNC should be very tough though also. I didn't see Tech much this season, so I have know clue there. It could be interesting to see how many of LSU's guys end up returning also.

GT was very athletic and every game i watched i always wondered why they didnt win more games, but they just did not take care of the ball late and weren't very court savvy...that will change because they get almost everyone back and pick up some big time players

    Re: A look ahead...

Doesn't final four finalist Florida, LSU and UCLA bring back virtually their entire teams or are we to discount this year as a fluke?
